How cool is this koala?
Postby Boognoss » Thu Feb 05, 2009 8:01 pm
Just received these pics in an email from the wife. I don't know who the cyclists are but I think the pics are just cool.
This little guy was suffering so much he hailed a cyclist to give him a drink!
And scored one for his efforts...
I guess the gum leaves are lacking in moisture at the moment...

Cute as all hell and submitted to Digg.com
Edit: Damn too late someone already posted it.
Good on for the guy for stopping. Don't think I could cycle on by either.

we have several buckets of water outside my back door for the Koalas.
Its been real warm here in Adelaide.
The first photos sort of look like Eagle on the Hill. (the old freeway).

Love it.
If you get me the names of the cyclists - and I have permission to publish the photos on BNA - then I will write the article - front page of BNA - Cyclists stop for thirsty koala!

The cyclist holding the drink bottle to the koala's mouth is wearing the yellow shirt from this year's Tour Down Under Community Challenge event (7000 riders rode TDU stage 4 early in the morning before the race stage) on January 23.
He's wearing something on a lanyard around his neck and some heavy-duty sun protection (reversed cap to protect his neck) so he's out on a long ride, but if it was the day of the Community Challenge I would expect a lot more people in yellow shirts to be around.
So the pics were taken between January 23 and now, and probably in South Australia as most of the riders were locals.
Also, it might be the cycleway heading towards Hahndorf on the motorway east out of Adelaide. (Yes, this is what South Australia is like for cyclists - real two-lane cycleways everywhere, none of our weak NSW-style "cycleways" made out of pavement broken up by intersections.)

Found out who the guy in the yellow TDU shirt is - it's Tim Noonan, the ABC reporter who rode the Community Challenge: http://blogs.abc.net.au/nsw/702_breakfast/

thats why alot of trees branches in adelaide are snapping because with the recent heat there is now moisture in the trees.

Maybe if everybody hopped on their bikes and pedalled down to Melbourne, this might cause the country to tilt and get all the Queensland floodwater to run down to the South.
